Primary cameras on smartphones have advanced higher resolution sensors to the point that we’ve had a variety of 50MP + camera phones in the market for a few years now. Selfie cameras, on the other hand, mostly have a resolution of 32 to 44 MP, but that may change this year.
According to Digital Chat Station updates and information, a phone with a 108-megapixel selfie camera will be released this year. The Weibo post doesn’t reveal much else, but the phone will likely be Chinese.
The 100 million pixel selfie is really coming.

It’s certainly exciting to hear about a 100-megapixel selfie camera, but it’s unclear how that technology will be implemented.
All of the 108MP cameras currently on the market are huge and take up a lot of space on the back of the phone. This would mean that a 100 megapixel selfie camera would likely make for a terrible notch or huge top bezel.
However, implementing it on a popup selfie camera similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro or a motorized flip camera on the Zenfone 6 and 7 from Asus is easy. It could also be a concept phone with a completely unique design.
